I have some very exciting (and maybe surprising) news to share today. I've been waiting until some details were sorted out (loooooong story) but I am so happy to finally be able to share this news...
I've left my day job to pursue a Diploma in Professional Photography!
Kinda crazy, eh?!
In September I started as a full time student in the 10 month Diploma Program at the PrairieView School of Photography here in Winnipeg. In the past year my interest in photography has grown and I knew that it was something that I wanted to dive into even further. Back in June I applied to PrairieView, and after an interview and showing a small portfolio of some of my current photography work, I was beyond thrilled to be accepted! At that moment I knew that this was the right path for me to be on right now, and I am so happy that I have taken the leap to leave my day job to pursue this opportunity.
Don't get me wrong - Leaving the security of my day job has been a bit scary...Okay, even sometimes downright terrifying. But I knew in my heart that my day job wasn't really fulfilling me and it wasn't really where I was supposed to be. I knew that there was something out there that I was meant to be doing with my life, but for a while I wasn't exactly sure what that was. Once I made the decision to pursue photography as a career, things just felt right. I knew this was it. This is what I am supposed to be doing. So as much as it has been scary to leave my day job, it's also been so exciting to open myself up to the possibility of something new and creative. In the next 10 months I will be launching my own photography business and I am looking forward to all the twists and turns that life has in store for me.
The first month and a half as a student at PrairieView has been filled with classes, photo shooting assignments and photo editing. I can't even believe how much I've learned in such a short amount of time - It's flying by so quickly! I've been doing my best to try to savour every moment of my time at PrairieView - It's been such an amazing experience so far! All my classmates are lovely, and it makes it even better to be surrounded by such a great group of people every single day. I'm feeling so blessed to have the opportunity to learn and do all these exciting new things - I am truly loving every minute of it!
I'm excited to share some of the things I'm learning as well as some of my photos here on the blog. Posts may not always be on a regular schedule, as school keeps me quite busy, but I am looking forward to sharing more about what I'm working on. You can always follow me on Bloglovin to get updates on posts - I hope to have some some posts of my photography soon! ▲
