I'm not really on the up and up on architectural theory, but I do know what I like when it comes to interesting and modern design. One of my favourite new things is photographing interesting buildings, and Winnipeg seems to have lots of really amazing designs popping up all over the place. Above are some photos I took of a condominium building here in Winnipeg called Bloc 10 by 5468796 Architecture.
5468796 Architecture is a firm based right here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and if you live in Winnipeg then you have probably seen some of their work around the city. Well, if you have been down to The Exchange District then you certainly have seen some of their work, as 5468796 designed "The Cube" which is the amazing stage at Old Market Square. They have been nominated for numerious design and architecture awards and have been featured in various publications in print and online. Recently 5468796 was awarded the Canada Council for the Arts 2013 Prix de Rome in Architecture for their concept called Table for 12: A Conversation in Architecture. The Table for 12 concept focuses on eight cities around the globe hosting informal conversations about architecture. The cities that Table for 12 will visit include Mexico City, New York, Lisbon, Eindhoven, Copenhagen, Tokyo, Sydney and...Winnipeg! Yes, Table for 12 will actually launch here in Winnipeg this coming September, 2013 at the Winnipeg Design Festival. Always wonderful to see Winnipeggers who are doing amazing work that is being recognized world-wide - Congratulations, 5468796! ▲
